Synergy+ Server on Mac, using SynergyKM
If you don't know or you were doing research on it Synergy+ is an open-source multi platform (linux, windows, mac), network based mouse and keyboard sharing application. If you have two monitors and you would like to only have to use one keyboard this is a great app for you to have. On my setup I have my Win7 desktop hooked up to one monitor and my MacBook hooked up to another one. I'm sharing the MacBook's mouse and keyboard with the desktop. I'm also using a magic mouse which actually works fine on Windows 7, apart from extremely fast scrolling with the touch scrolling on the Magic Mouse. To install Synergy+ go here Synergy+ and download the latest stable package for your OS, you must install synergy on every computer that you want to share with. For Windows synergy is a simple point and click app that doesn't take too much difficulty in setting up. For Linux and Mac you will need to use the terminal to get the server or the client started. The easiest way to setup Synergy+ is to share from a Windows to a Mac, going from a Mac to Windows is a little bit more difficult, meaning you would have to manually create a config file for your Synergy Mac server, but luckily someone made a GUI to handle just this job. SynergyKM This little GUI is for the Mac to handle config for a Synergy server on your mac. Once you figure it out it is really easy, first thing is to install it from the dmg file, then make sure to click on Share My Mouse and Keyboard. Next, move to the Server Configuration tab, the plus sign adds a new screen, so add all the screens you need, making sure you name them exactly what you named them in the other OS's or else the program will have trouble finding the other computers. Drag the screens how you want them to be setup physically, then press apply now, and it will tell if you have any problems, if not it will start and await clients. Then all you have to do is start the client on the others computers and have fun using a single mouse and keyboard for your multiple computers. To run a client on Linux or Mac use this command in a terminal synergyc -f server-host-name
